WU YANXI
Wu Yanxi’s art is deeply tied to her spiritual pursuit as a Buddhist. Known for her abstract, round paintings, Yanxi uses this unique form to explore fundamental questions about existence, identity, and the universe. Rather than focusing on technique or surface-level themes, her work reflects a search for the “Dao” and the essence of being. She calls her pieces “The Diary of Heart,” showing an emotional and spiritual journey—early works are turbulent, while later ones are calm, revealing her inner transformation. Her creative process is intuitive and natural, allowing paint to flow freely without control, embodying the Buddhist idea that everything arises from and returns to nothingness.
2017: Her work was featured in the Chinese Spirit: The 4th China Oil Painting Exhibition at the Today Art Museum in Beijing.
2022: As a curatorial assistant, she contributed to the Albert Adams: Fantastic Imagination exhibition at the University of Salford, which included a virtual component showcased at Media City.
