Born in China in 1965, Hei Feng relocated to the United States in 1989, and lives and works in New York and Beijing.
Hei is a visiting professor at the College of Fine Arts, Capital Normal University, Beijing.
Hei Feng received his BFA in 1988 from the College of Fine Arts, Minzu University of China. From 1988-1989 Hei was an art editor at the Culture and Art Publishing House of the Chinese National Academy of Arts.
From 1998 to 2000, Hei was the chairman of Visual Artists Guild in southern California.
In 2013, Hei founded Hei Feng Art Museum in Beijing. Hei Feng works in painting, sculpture, installation, and digital art.
